Co-Owner Sangria 71
José Fernández is the co-owner of one of Long Island’s top eateries, Sangria 71, which he manages with his brother Rosendo Fernández. Opened in Williston Park Four years ago, Sangria 71 has earned rave reviews from the New York Times, Newsday and the thousands of customers it has served with traditional Spanish tapas, succulent entrees and an array of specialty sangrias and cocktails.
In January 2016, the Fernández brothers opened a second location in Commack, Long Island.
An immigrant from the coastal province of Galicia, Spain, José began his culinary journey with his brother by selling paella and empanadas in street festivals throughout New York City.
José’s business success extends beyond the culinary industry. He is the founder of ESPA Cargo, an international logistics associate specializing in door-to-door relocation of classic cars and valuable artwork worldwide. This business has operated for over 22 years in Oceanside’s community.
José believes strongly in paying it forward and has used his success to support causes and organizations near and dear to his heart, such as the Hispanic Federation, March of Dimes, Island Harvest and Circulo de la Hispanidad.
Above all, José is most proud of being a good husband and father, sharing his American life and dreams with his beautiful wife Maria and children Victoria and José Rafael.
